But her musicianship shadows the curveball melodies and clipped watchmaker beats scattered through Cousin - a fairly sharp pivot from the flashback country-rock Americana of last year’s excellent Cruel Country, more often conjuring angular Anglo post-punk and old-school Canterbury Scene prog-rock. Given her wickedly Nico-esque 2019 cover of Wilco’s “Company in My Back,” one might wish her vocals were more prominent. ![]() Like a number of Wilco jams, it’s a perfect song about imperfection. ![]() On the opener, “Infinite Surprise,” tick-tocking percussion clocks a cardiac bass drum, as Tweedy freeze-frames two souls gazing into each other’s eyes (or maybe one non-binary soul and a mirror) in a moment of uneasy, helpless communion, guitar noise and synth detritus thickening and receding like wildfire smoke. So LeBon and Tweedy are a good match, and maybe because we’re all swimming in strangeness lately, even Cousin’s more abstract fusions feel utterly natural. Tweedy’s a plainspoken dude whose avant-gardening, despite rangy sidemen like Glen Kotche and Nels Cline, has occasionally come off more aspirational than constitutional. She does weird well, because her oddball pop always feels rooted in the heart. The producer is Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, who clicked with the band at Solid Sound, Wilco’s biennial Massachusetts music’n’art kegger. ![]()

I assume the size of the Kindle Store is between 4 and 5 million publications, so with the Kindle Unlimited subscription you get free access to one-third of the Amazon ebook platform.ġ.5 million sounds like a huge number but you should really take into consideration how many of these books you want to read. The number is still growing, maybe not as fast as a few years ago, but we can assume that thousands of new publications join Kindle Unlimited every month. However, the major question is still the same, and “how many books can I read per month?” is not this question. Kindle Unlimited is no longer suitable only for avid readers, just like Netflix is not only for people who want to watch movies every evening. In the handy list below, you’ll find benefits and disadvantages of Kindle Unlimited, so that you can make up your mind whether this service – in its current shape, and compared to other services – is something you can consider. It’s the nature of Kindle Unlimited: you can get a membership for a month or two, read all the best books that are currently available, cancel the subscription, and come back the next reading season. The company has accepted the fact that users come and go, and made it easy for former subscribers to come back. If it was six or four years ago, you may be surprised to discover how many things have changed – mainly in a way Amazon handles returning members. This poses future questions about men possibly displaying empathy in the same frequency as women, but through actions.Īs for age, it didn’t seem like the age of the person in need of help or consolement mattered to either gender or mattered in general. They found there is a philosophical belief of prosocial behavior relating to empathy. According to Kamas and Preston (2021), there are many operational definitions of empathy. This suggests men have emotional capabilities to express empathy, but other factors may be holding them back. According to Miller (2022), the difference between sympathy and empathy is sympathy involves understanding another person’s situation, while empathy involves experiencing what another person is feeling like it is your own emotions. Although some men chose no interaction and an empathetic response, it seems that many men tend to choose a sympathetic response to the situations. Although men did score lower than women in empathic response, they did not dominantly score on the low spectrum for the scenario response. These results agree with past research on empathic scores. Our research did in fact find women scored higher in empathic response. For example, if men are found to be less empathetic, what are some intervention techniques to improve emotional response? This research could also be used for adults that work in childcare, teaching, or geriatrics. The goal of the study was to understand gender differences in gender empathy to use for future implications for improving empathy. Participants were also asked their gender, age, and ethnicity. The scores ranged from 1-3, with 3 being the highest score for empathy. ![]() The empathic responses involved interaction, a form of helping, and emotional intelligence or emotional consolement. ![]() The first choice was minimal to no interaction in the scenarios, the second choice was a sympathetic response (helping without emotional consolement), and the third choice was an empathetic response. There were three response choices for each question. There were 6 scenarios involving interaction with children and 6 involving interaction with elderly people. Myself and one of my colleagues, Emily Placido, conducted a survey with 12 different scenarios. Researchers were highly transparent empathy is a very complex topic, but factors of curiosity do not stop at gender.Īn experimental survey was conducted through a course (Research Methods and Design) at Minnesota State University Mankato in an attempt to better understand the role of empathy in men and women, as well as how men and women’s empathetic response (or not so empathic in some cases) varies in cases of children and elderly people. Nicklin suggests women may be more genetically disposed to empathetic behavior, but that doesn’t mean men cannot be empathetic. Nicklin suggests the highest influences of empathy are gender-specific hormones, society, and culture. She also adds that empathy is innate to all humans and can possibly be improved with practice. So, are women actually more empathetic because of their biological gender, or does society play a role in empathy? Nicklin (2021) compares empathy to the ability to connect and relate to others. ![]() ![]() ![]() Choose the type of logo you wantįirst of all, you need to decide on what type of logo you want, and again-keep in mind that MidJourney is NOT good with text.
